We love eelskin. It is a wonderful soft and colourful material that has played a central part of our collections since beginning of becksöndergaard.

The skin comes from deep sea eels primarily from Alaska imported to South Korea. The eels are used for the food industry and the skin is a bi-product. The industry is old, all making is done by hand and requires special skills.

Eelskin is strong and durable, it has natural bites and scratches and it varies is colour and size and therefore each item is unique.
